APRIL COLOUR LIME GREEN/SPRING GREEN The Vernal Equinox in March saluted the beginning of Spring. Why are women still binding their feet? To me, there are many similarities with women’s fashion of wearing either stockings and socks in pointy heeled shoes to the 1,000 year old Chinese fashion of mothers binding their daughters feet. Of course to a much lesser degree, but even so, the submissive symbolism, the objectification and the long term damage done to women’s feet in fashion shoes, have striking echoes. Especially as women grow older as they become mothers and grandmothers. There freedom of movement, their body language, their mobility, over time become stunted and limited. Being in a body with
2017 YEAR OF THE FIRE COCKEREL/ROOSTER OR, FOR THE MORE MYTHICALLY MINDED, YEAR OF THE PHOENIX OR THUNDERBIRD! …. And so Year of the Monkey came to an end on 28th January and Cockerel strutted in to take centre stage. Celestial Phoenix flew in with colourful grace and resilience, while Thunderbird, The Big Hawk, emerged from behind the clouds looking as magnificently powerful as a bolt of thunder! The year heralds new beginnings and is a wake-up call to many – hope those ‘in power’ take heed! It will be a volatile time, yet also one of opportunity and regeneration.
WARMEST WINTER SOLSTICE LIGHT & YULETIDE JOY TO YOU The wheel (yule) of the year comes full circle. Doubtless it has been a multi-coloured and multi-faceted circuit, filled with ups and downs, wobbles, curves and straight runs! Time therefore, before days slowly lengthen and new shoots arise, to pause for reflection, find gratitude, poise and peacefulness in our hearts and minds, look after our bodies and each other, the animals, our lands, seas and rivers.
