WELCOME NOBLE HORSE AS YOU TAKE YOUR PLACE OF HONOUR FOR 2014
Our equine friends have lived upon Earth for over 50 million years. They evolved from a much smaller ancestor – what triumph over adversity, such tenacity, fortitude and strength of spirit. The horse has possibly had the greatest impact on how human civilisation has developed and so we are intertwined and deeply connected with this beautiful beast. Horse holds much wisdom and magical power, and speaks of many things. Here are just a few.
We are reminded of the importance of movement, in other words be flexible in body, mind and spirit. The physical body needs to be taken care of in order to serve us to the best of its abilities; be prepared for change on many different levels; be adaptable and open, releasing fixed ideas, plans or ways of being; best to think outside the box this year; let our spirit soar as it yearns for that freedom of movement too.
Fresh ideas may surface – these are interesting and fertile times.
Loyalty, trust and reliability are features. Strengthen the bonds of friendships, build contacts, work together.
‘Look after the land’ is Horse’s cry. Work with the seasons, the moon and the sun. Find or rejoice in our sense of place on this beautiful land.
Unless something feels very wrong in our heart and gut, continue with endeavours or projects. Movement forward can sometimes be slow, however a new journey may be on the horizon.
Horse has long been humankind’s partner and we are reminded to be happy to share skills and talents so that our gifts reach out to others. Ego has no place this year. Caring and compassion guide the day. As a result we will feel freer, more empowered in the knowledge that we are living a life in balance and in keeping with our soul’s journey.
We are all rainbow warriors. The sevenfold splendour of a rainbow forms a magical bridge between heaven and earth, whose colours are pure, uniting us in wonder and joy. Each of the seven rays radiates energy – what colour do you need today?
Epona the Horse Goddess, Goddess of Fertility and Protection, will be shining her light upon us so that we too may shine by being our authentic selves. Rhiannon, Celtic Goddess, will ride in on her white horse. The winged Pegasus will flow through thunder and lightning. The mystical and enchanting Unicorn may appear in dreams or visions, bringing no-nonsense, insightful truths. The Kelpie, supernatural horse of water, and the mythological sea-horse, Hippocamp, part winged horse part fish, may rise up from the waters or be seen to surf the waves. Last though not least, the seahorse will remind us to save its habitat and other precious marine environments.
Epona guides us to remember our other delightful equine friends, Donkey and Mule. They ask that, when possible, we take action to stop their exploitation, ill-treatment and neglect. Donkey has been at humankind’s side for millennia. They are highly intelligent, sociable and inquisitive. They are not just ‘beasts of burden’ and deserve so much better.
In a way all the beings above have a similar message, the heart of it being to walk lightly upon the earth, to have grace and beauty in heart and mind, and to let our spirit run free.
Wood (or Tree), the element associated with 2014, has a dynamic, expansive and expressive energy particularly from a Feng Shui point of view. We are minded to:
deal with frustration or anger issues in a safe and positive way
communicate with clarity and confidence
look to feelings of self-worth
honour personal growth, intuitive understanding and enhanced sensitivity
adopt a creative approach rather than a reactive one
take actions that bring us closer to how we really want to live
envisage a resplendent present and future, and go for it!
appreciate all that is beautiful in the eye of the beholder
be as strong as the oak, flexible as bamboo, as graceful as the willow and as tall as whichever tree you would like to be!
give thanks for each day, for every meal and to all the people, animals, plants and trees you know
I thank God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes. e. e. cummings
