MAY EVE & MAY DAY/BELTANE
CELEBRATION OF ONGOING AWAKENING & BOUNTEOUS ENERGY
THE HONOURING OF LIFE ITSELF
One of the greatest joys of unfolding Springtime, into its glorious prime, is Blackthorn Blossom.
The Blackthorn and shining white blossom give forth a feeling of ancient wisdom and experience, and
yet offer a bright freshness for all to partake in. It is as if the flowers, tiny chalices of delight, invite us
to imbibe the vital energies of this time of year. These flowers stand out so much as they come into
being before the leaves do, and against a backdrop of very dark, knobbly twigs and thorny branches –
one could say beauty and the beast! Even though the Blackthorn is considered to be a mere wild shrub
with much superstitious and unnecessary negativity surrounding it, the effects of it in bloom are
striking and dramatic. The contrast between blooms and branches conveys strength in hope, inner
power in adversity, expression of truth, inherent energy within the spirit of all beings.
Blackthorn has a place within the Sacred Grove, a natural temple and place of sanctuary. This is where
Druidic folk gained mental and nervous system calm, overall tranquillity and spiritual nourishment.
The guidance from the Spirit of Blackthorn is unequivocal: There is beauty in your soul – act upon it.
Being here now is part of our soul’s journey and evolution, so maybe now is a very good time to reflect
upon Blackthorn counsel.
There may be a dark background to current events, however the light can never be extinguished only
temporarily diminished if we let it be so. From perceived chaos, new paths emerge and the Sacred
Grove is calling.
Here’s to life, light and love, Nicky X
