Herbal Teas: add to your smoothies by Jill Davies

Herbal tea drinking is a great trend that is ever increasing and this alone can really help our plate diversity endeavours. We can also extend our repertoire to adding herb powders into smoothies. Just one great choice that springs to mind is Ginkgo powder (1/2 to 1 teaspoon) the brain saver. Or Cinnamon powder (in smaller quantities of course), the blood sugar balancer. Or indeed Nettle powder the great allrounder and tonic.

Wild plants for spring salads

Look for young nettles for juicing and the first fresh dandelion leaves to add to salads. Both these are good springtime cleansers. Also the young garlic plants will be scenting the damp stream banks and shady woodlands. Again for salads and for a digestive tonic. Happy foraging.
